The park, formerly the Old Liverpool Cemetery, was redeveloped by the Liverpool City Council in 1974 as a memorial to the pioneers of the district.
Headstones prior to 1850 and those of historical interest have been retained in the park.

The National Trust of Australia, The Royal Australian Historical Society, The Liverpool Historical Society And Interested Citizens All Headstones Dated Prior To 1850 Together With Those Of Historical Interest After That Date, Have Been Retained In Place
Many Of Those Moved Have Been Re-Erected
In Various Structures Throughout The Park
The Plaques On This Building Record The Names Of All Persons
Buried In This Park As Far As Can Be Ascertained
From The Headstones And Available Records.
